Colourways is a leading trend forecasting initiative originally set up by the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) in 1992. It is an essential industry forum for designers, specifiers, manufacturers and other design industry members. Colourways actively sources, identifies and delivers the very latest trend developments in colours, materials and finishes. They assist industry in design, development, manufacturing and marketinng of their products and services.

Two of the hottest colour directions identified by Colourways for 2013 are called ‘Tundra’ and ‘Sweet Chalk’. Tundra’s palette focuses on cool greys and iced blues, with simplicity being the key. The Sweet Chalk trend captures coral shades, purples, ombre and sheers.

Sekers’ Jove fabric fits the ‘Tundra’ bill perfectly. Jove is a linen blend fabric that boasts beautiful drapability. It is a soft neautral with ripple like texture.

The word Ikat means ‘to bind’. It stands as one of the oldest forms of textile decoration and is an almost universal weaving style common to many world cultures. It is not known exactly where the Ikat technique originated, but it is seen in many cultures throughout the world. Traditionally, Ikat was seen as a symbol of status, wealth, power and prestige. Because of the time and skill involved in weaving Ikat, some cultures believe the cloth is imbued with magical powers.

The latest print release from Sekers is a modern take on the Ikat style.
